470 European Championship - Clock is ticking and temperatures are rising at 470 Europeans |
BREST, FRANCE-(14-7-2003) A lack of wind keeps teasing the process of obtaining a valid serie at the 470 European Championship at Brest, France. Yesterday no racing was possible and at this moment, 3pm in the afternoon, sailors are still ashore polishing their boats in hot temperatures waiting for any winds to build up. To justify a valid 470 Europeans 2003 serie, three races in the Finals are needed which means that at least two more races have to be completed today, or at the last day tomorrow. According to the opinion of locals, a breeze might build up from the North West in the late afternoon or early evening. “Everybody is ready to go!” said Darren Dunkley-Smith “Even if it’s 7 o’clock in the evening we will go on the water as it only gets dark here at 11pm.” Also for tomorrow not much wind is expected which means that some wind tonight would be kind of crucial importance. After the 470 Europeans, the 470 Sprint Cup will take place on the 16th with the presence of a Television crew. Fortunately more wind is expected in the middle of this week.
